Update #2 - Mar. 31st 2025:

Hello!
It has been quite a while since I first posted my prototype. I hope you have enjoyed it. I'd like to share some updates on what I have been doing and what's to come over the next year.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
#1) Game Update:
- First and foremost, I think I have fixed the crash mentioned in the description of the game. You can no longer interact with the door once it is unlocked. This should mean that the text box will no longer appear stating that it is locked, which in turn means it should not crash anymore. If the bug still occurs on your playthrough after this, a heads up will be much appreciated.
- Second, you may notice that a few new things! I remade the player sprites to stand out a tiny bit more. I find it easier to look at, although it is still not up to par with a standard pixel art game. More to come on that. I also changed one of the houses to look more...well, house-like instead of a pile of bricks. I looked to the houses in old Pokemon games for inspiration.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
#2) Current Work:
- In an attempt to better my pixel art "skills", I did a 30 day pixel art challenge. I just used Google and found an image that contained 30 prompts. So, that is what I have been doing all month. It has been going...ok I guess. I definitely did not expect to get good overnight, but I was also kinda surprised with what I was able to come up with. I'll try to link the files with this post so you can see what I did. You might not be able to tell what some of them are, but I hope you enjoy them nonetheless. They do look like a 12 year old drew them...XD
- Reflection: Overall, I'm pretty happy with my crappy Microsoft Paint pictures. I like them, but I recognized that this is not really commercially viable. Which is fine; I like my stuff and I'm ok with that. I'm more of a "from the dome" type of creator. I just want to let my imagination run wild, regardless of the outcome. It is unlikely that I will be commercially successful, but hopefully others can find enjoyment in my ...unhinged(?) nature.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
#3) Project Timeline Established for 2025:
- In addition to practicing my pixel art, I have established my desired timeline for the year. I'd like to stick to it if I can, but I may wander here and there. Please take a look:
- April/May: Asset Update - new tiles, more decorations; a bit of a facelift so to speak.
- June/July: Writing - I'd like to try and nail down some kind of a story here. I have a general idea and direction, but I'd like to add to it.
- August/September: Game Design - For these months, I'd like to explore the mechanics I want to implement, and possibly test out.
- October - December: Godot Implementation/Programming - Here is where I'll jump back into Godot to start building/rebuilding the project. My code needs quite a bit of work too.
As I am typing this, I'm already thinking something is wrong here, haha! I feel like I may change what I work on throughout the year, but seeing as I have pixel art fresh in my mind, I'll probably stick with that for the next few months.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's about it for now. Thank you for reading and following along with my journey! I would greatly appreciate any "word-of-mouth" you can provide: sharing the game with friends & family, showcasing the game across social media (Youtube, Twitch, Discord, etc.) or any interaction here on itch.io. I intend to make some Youtube content at some point, but development comes first for now.
Sorry for the long post, thank you again, and I'll be back here towards the end of April for a new update!
