Update #4 - May 31st 2025:
Hello, SpoiledPuppy here!
It's time for the May update already?? Like April, this month flew by. So, what's been going on with you? Hope you have been doing well.
So far, when I get to the end of every month, I feel like I have not accomplished as much as I had hoped. That remains somewhat true; I had hoped to be completely done with pixel art stuff this month. Instead, I have barely made a dent in what needs to be updated, and now I am behind on my original schedule.
With that said, in April I finished 1 screen - the whole Graveyard screen; in May I have finished 4 screens! That seems like a lot to me now that I like back on it. I am currently on the fence right now - I'm trying to decide whether to making tiles, or just create the full screens. I think I'm leaning towards the latter, as it seems easier to do right now. I am keeping a running file of tiles (haha) though, just in case. Anyway, here is a look at some of the things I have created so far (lots of gray...):
This is just a small sampling of what I have been working on so far, and after going through my files again, I'm starting to feel a TEENY bit better about art stuff.
So, where does that leave me now? Well, I guess I'll just have to hunker down and try to get as many screens done as possible each month until I'm done. That means my schedule is being pushed waaay back. Considering I have at least 15 more screens to make, here's what things look like now:
- June/July/August: Pixel art update
- September/October: Story Writing
- November/December: Game Design/Mechanics, Planning & Testing
- January 2026 Onward: Godot Implementation/Programming, Updates.
While I severely underestimated art time, I'm hoping that my process picks up some speed and that I can finish by July. Many screens share the same tiles, so maybe that will count for something.
I'll be back at the end of each month with more pixel art updates like this! Until then, if you'd like to get a feel for who I am a little, consider visiting my YoutTube channel and watching some of my gameplays. I'm not trying to make it big there or nothing, I don't have time to post anything anymore! Its just if you want to get a sense of me. --> https://www.youtube.com/@sheamageddon
Other than that, as always please share this game demo with fellow gamers, family and friends. Word of mouth goes a long way for me as a solo dev. I hope life is treating you well and that everyone you know and love is getting on just fine in this wild world!
Signing off!
